On Your Mark, Get Set, See You Later!

The 1st Annual Suffield Athletic Department Road Race brought runners through the rain.

The 1st Annual Suffield Athletic Department Road Race was held on Sunday May 15, 2011.

The downpours, thunder and lightening came early clearing the way for the 1 p.m. race start at the Mark Cervione Soccer Fields in West Suffield. The athletes came ready to run in the drizzle that did not stop. Coach Joe Sinicrope was on hand with his timing machine and several high school track and field team members were involved manning the water stations and making sure the runners stayed on course.

Suffield Athletic Director Mike Bosworth started the race with the traditional gun shot. The race course took the runners through Stratton Farms, back to Copper Hill and  down Griffin Road to Jackson Road. The runners returned to Copper Hill and ended with a lap on the wet slippery grass around the soccer fields.
