Mark O'Hara
Candidate for Zoning and Planning

I am an attorney and member of Blackburn & O'Hara, LLC, a law firm that specializes in property insurance related litigation in Connecticut and Massachusetts.  I have been a member of the Zoning and Planning Commission for the past two years as an alternate and spent eight years as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals prior to that.

Prior to attending law school, I was an investigator for the District Attorney of New York where I served on a federal financial crimes task force investigating money laundering and narcotics operations in New York City. I also spent 10 years in the United States Army Reserve as an Intelligence Officer specializing in interrogation and counterintelligence investigations.

I have always felt that public service is a sacred duty.  I was honored to serve in the military and later in a law enforcement capacity and consider my run for the Zoning and Planning Commission to be a small extension of that service.  I believe that the Zoning & Planning Commission should serve as thoughtful stewards of Suffield's development.  The focus should be on smart commercial development in the town center and outlying commercial districts while preserving open space and farmland.  In this way we can broaden our tax base and strengthen the services provided by the Town and channel residential development.

Paid for by Suffield Democratic Town Committee. Jeff Peak, treasurer.
