Suffield's is off to another strong start with USA Luge's junior national luge team, winning events and medals against world-class competition.

The first two Junior World Cup races of the season, held on Nov. 20 and Nov. 23, yielded two gold medals for Sweeney. Her success on the track continued as she slid to win the first international junior (20 years old and younger) women’s challenge cup race of the season on Nov. 21.

With three top finishes in four days, Sweeney also topped the overall, international junior women luge rankings. She is officially recognized as the best female luge slider in her age bracket in the world.

This entire luge season has been bountiful for Sweeney, as she earned her first-ever gold medal at the senior level. With a third-place finish and a first-place finish in a two-day time trial race in late October, Sweeney earned a significant honor and confirmation that she can compete on the senior national level, at the very least.
