Key Players: Senior Tyler Seidel, Senior Eric Lenser and Junior Liam Brown.

Coach Quintero said the team had a successful season last year, going 12-8 and qualifying for the state tournament. But it may be difficult to replicate that success as the team lost its top singles player. Quintero predicts a finish around .500 this year.

Quintero did say the Wildcats will be a top-level team in the NCCC this year.

"We have set the goal for ourselves of qualifying for the state tournament," he said.

Quintero said the Avon Falcons would be the Wildcats' toughest opponent this year, and Suffield fell 6-1 to Avon on April 6. However, the team is on a two-game win streak as they traveled to Rocky Hill and Canton and came back above .500.

Quintero had this to say about the team's work so far this year: "The team has had relative success in the past without implementing any sort of physical conditioning or rigorous tennis drilling. The players are finding it difficult to adapt to the new style of training but are benefiting from [it] and enjoying working hard."

The Wildcats play today at home against Woodstock Academy at 4:30 p.m. and travel to Enfield High School for a 3:45 p.m. match on Friday. Rival Avon comes up on the schedule again on May 4 when the Wildcats play an away match agaist the Falcons.
