Suffield Wildcats Finish Season with Win on Senior Night

The Wildcats saw off their seniors and produced a strong win over Stafford on Wednesday night.

Suffield Wildcat wrestling avenged a 42-24 loss to Stafford earlier this season with a 51-27 win at home on Wednesday for Suffield's senior night and their last team match of the season.

The evening started with coach Chris Potter recognizing three seniors: co-captain and fourth year starter Joey Gleason, co-captain and third year starter John Kopec and first year starter Hector Leon for their hard work during the season and dedication to the team and their school during their high school wrestling years.  Coach Potter presented them with a rock trophy engraved with their names. The seniors presented their mothers with flowers during pre-match activities.

Suffield was trailing 15-18 after six matches when Gleason pinned his opponent in 1:40 to push the Wildcats ahead 21-18. Tristen Cauley pinned his opponent in 3:07 on the way to a 51-27 win in the season finale. The win puts the Wildcats at 5-2 in the North Central Connecticut Conference (NCCC) with a 9-10 overall record.
