Suffield High School Girls and Boys XC Teams Win First Meet of the Season

Suffield High School girls and boys cross country teams win opening meet of the season.

Under a sunny clear sky and warmer than expected temperature, Suffield High School seniors Jimmy Clark and Elizabeth Rigby cruised over the 3.1 mile Somers High School course to easy victory in their opening meet of the season Wednesday.   

The Wildcat girls scored perfect score 15-50 victories over Somers and East Granby, capturing the first twelve places. Elizabeth Rigby was followed by Laura Sweeney, Nina Begley, Monique LaBarre, Hanna Gardocki, Kaitlin Corr, Gabby Rusczyk, Erin Reynolds, Kellen McGann, Lauren Izabel, Erin Kost and Megan Shannon, all finishing before East Granby's and Somers' first athletes. 

The Suffield boys, coming off their NCCC Class M 2011 Cross Country championship season, began 2012 by besting East Granby and Somers. Overall race winner Jimmy Clark was followed by Wildcats Patrick Begley (2nd), Ben Gee (5th), Justin Walch (7th), Kevin Powell (8th), John Urbanski (10th), Max Morris (11th), Matt Guilmette (14th) and Shawn Andrade (15th).
