Farmers Market, Home Tours, Holiday Play and Live Reading Happen in Suffield this Weekend

The Suffield High School drama club presents "A Christmas Carol," the Suffield Players perform a live reading of "It's a Wonderful Life," historic home tours lead to Magic on Main and the Suffield Winter Farmer's Market offers ingredients for holiday dish

 

Suffield residents won't have to travel far for seasonally themed entertainment and activities this weekend. The Drama Club, the , the Friends of the Farm at Hilltop and the Suffield Garden Club are all offering local performances, tours, shopping opportunities and events in town.

The Suffield High School Drama Club hosts performances of A Christmas Carol on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The classic story features a twist in this performance, as author Charles Dickens is a character and the story's creation is touched on while it is being performed.

The Suffield Players perform another holiday standard, It's a Wonderful Life, as a stage reading. The cast will have scripts in hand, minimal rehearsals and an emphasis on improvisation. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

The readings also serve as the Suffield Players' annual fundraiser, so donations of $10 or more are strongly encouraged but not mandatory. A raffle to benefit the community theater group will be held at all the shows. To find out more about the performance and fundraising events, .

Friends of the Farm at Hilltop (FOFAH) host the Suffield Winter Farmers Market on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market offers fruits and vegetables, jams and jellies, baked goods, crafts, jewelry, soap, beauty products and more. Whether you're looking for a unique gift or a special ingredient for a favorite holiday recipe, the farmers market has something for everyone.

Tour six private homes and two historic houses in Suffield, all decorated in exciting and classic holiday fashion by the Suffield Garden Club, with Magic on Main on Saturday. The Hatheway House visitor's center will offer boutique items, cookies, candies and decorative greens.
