Town Budget Process Nearing Completion

Thursday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 27 are two of the last three key dates for the Suffield budget process.

Update: If the Board of Finance does not finish their review and set the budget on Thursday night, a meeting will be held on Monday, April 18 to finish the budget before it is presented at the public hearing.

Original Story: The Suffield Board of Finance will hold a budget review meeting today, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall lower level meeting room. This is the final meeting the board will hold before the public hearing on the budget.

The board will provide an opportunity for public comment tonight before conducting an overall review and setting the financial year 2011 - 2012 budget, which will then be reviewed at a public hearing at the end of the month.

Itemized estimates of town expenditures will be presented at the hearing, which is the final opportunity for public input on the budget. Everyone who wants to comment, to either support or oppose budget items, will be given an audience by the Board of Finance.

The public hearing will be held at the Suffield High School auditorium on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m.

The budget will then be voted on at a Town Meeting in May, the final step in approving or rejecting the proposed budget.
