Suffield's Republican Presidential Primary has progressed smoothly and slowly since 6 a.m. Tuesday, with 216 voters casting a ballot by 2:30 p.m.

Along with 10 absentee ballots, the total count near the middle of the voting period was 226 ballots. That number is down significantly from the last Republican Primary, which had 881 voters in 2008. The last Democratic Primary, held at the same time as the 2008 Republican Primary, saw 1,188 voters.

Suffield may see more activity at a possible Primary for the Senate, tentatively scheduled for August.
