Steady Turnout Reported at Suffield Polls

Senate and Congress primaries are being contested until 8 p.m.

A steady stream of Suffield voters cast their primary ballots at the middle school as of early afternoon Tuesday.

"It's been steady," said Lynn Parry of the Suffield Republican Town Committee.

Despite intermittent rain, about 400 voters had turned out by noon.

Republicans are choosing between Paul Formica and Daria Novak to challenge incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney in the Second Congressional District. They are also deciding between Christopher Shays and Linda McMahon for a U.S. Senate nomination.

On the Democratic side, Susan Bysiewicz and Christopher Murphy are contending for the U.S. Senate nomination.
