Maturo: East Haven to Ask for National Guard's Help to Clear Town Roads

East Haven officials are asking residents to remain off all roadways as many in town remain impassible after more than two feet of snow dropped during the now-historic Blizzard of 2013.

The following is a press release from the East Haven Mayor's Office.

The state of emergency for East Haven will continue until further notice.

  • Mayor Maturo (along with Emergency Management Director EHFD Chief Doug Jackson) will be requesting the CT National Guard's assistance to get the roads opened and cleared (especially for emergency travel).
  • The mayor asks residents to remain off the roads as many remain impassable; any non-emergency vehicular traffic will only hinder clean-up efforts.
  • The town will be bringing in outside contractors to assist the Public Services Department with getting the roads opened and cleared.
  • Mayor has ordered that any vehicles that are either stuck or parked on streets not in accordance with the parking ban will be towed as soon as it is feasible.

Finally the mayor is asking all citizens to assit the fire department by cleaning snow from any fire hydrants in close proximity to their location.

Off of Bradley Street - 3 dead end development. Car stranded in the middle of the road - can't even find the road - No plows, no sign of anything coming to dig us out. Feeling extremely stranded and disconnected. Even one center path would help at this point! Help.....
