Special Education Review Meeting

News from Suffield Public Schools Central Office:

The Suffield Board of Education has hired the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) to conduct a special education review to assist the district in planning now and in the future. The review will be conducted from June through October will answer the following evaluation questions identified by the Suffield Board of Education:

  1. To what extent are special education students receiving educational benefit from the programs and services provided by the Suffield Public Schools?
  2. Are the processes used to determine eligibility for special education and related services effective and efficient?
  3. Are resources utilized effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of the special education population?
  4. To what extent is the communication with stakeholders effective in meeting special education student needs?

This qualitative and quantitative study will collect and analyze a variety of data sources in order to answer the evaluation questions. Input from parents of children receiving special education and 504 services in Suffield will be sought through a June parent survey, as well as focus interviews in September and October. CREC will be available to discuss the review with parents on June 8 th at the High School media center from 6-7:PM. You are welcome to stop by.
