Suffield Teen Charged with Harassment Over Text Messages

Shannon Griffin charged with harassment for sending unwanted messages.

A Suffield teen who went overboard with too many texts, police said, and was subsequently arrested.

Shannon Griffin, 19, of 550 Mapleton Ave., Suffield, was charged with harassment in the second degree for text messages she sent to a girl she was once friends with.

The texts were unwanted, and "an annoyance," according to WFSB, and the girl made a harassment complaint in May. Police then told Griffin to have no contact with the girl.

Griffin was arrested and charged by South Windsor police on July 2. She was release on $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court July 11.

The site ctboom.com picked up the story and had some sarcastic commentary.

"Consider this your warning," the article says. "If I find your texts annoying… If you send me pictures of your dinner… If you text to tell me that you’re at work and bored… I will report you to the police. I’m glad that Connecticut police have nothing better to do than arrest people for being annoying texters. Makes me feel safe and warm inside."
