The carnival also features midway games, bingo, rides for kids and fireworks set to patriotic music. The fireworks launch at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The money raised at the carnival will be distributed to different organizations in town, Gauthier said.

A parade kicks off Saturday's festivities. It begins at the intersection of Mountain Road and North and South Grand Streets in West Suffield and ends at the carnival grounds.

First Selectman Tom Frenaye said the carnival is "great" and the fireworks are "incredible." The carnival also has good entertainment and food, he added.

"The fireman's association and their volunteers really do a lot of organizing effort," Frenaye said. "It really comes off quite well."

Frenaye said since the weather is looking good for the weekend, indicators point to the event being successful.

Kehoe said music will be performed on the new stage on Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday's performance starts at 7 p.m. with some of the upcoming talent from the area performing hits by artists including Katy Perry and Elton John, to name just a few.

A program of Dixieland and other popular styles will be performed on Friday at 8 p.m. by some of Suffield’s notable musicians, including Ray Tanguay and John Secora, accompanied by Kehoe.

Kehoe said Saturday's performances will include the Around Town Singers’ popular ATExpress at 7:30 p.m. The group is made up of three 11-year-old singers. The Human Race, a jazz group, will perform at 9 p.m., Kehoe said.

Kehoe said he wanted to see good music that everyone can enjoy performed at the carnival.

The carnival starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. each day.
