Suffield Firefighter Dies in Crash Near Mountain Road

The fatal crash occurred Wednesday morning near the Congamond Lakes.

A violent car crash killed a Suffield volunteer firefighter Wednesday morning.

The confirmed that one of its members had died Wednesday and directed inquiries to Suffield Police.

The crash took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Old Mountain Road near Route 168 (Mountain Road), close to the Congamond Lakes, according to The Hartford Courant.

The Courant said a Jeep driven by the firefighter was involved in a collision with a pick-up truck. The firefighter died instantly. The driver of the pick-up truck received injuries that were not life threatening and was transferred to a hospital in the area.

The firefighter had a birthday party Tuesday night at one of Suffield's firehouses, according to the Courant.
