An unlicensed contractor who was paid $40,000 to build a barn but reportedly never finished the job will face prosecution after a motion to have his case dismissed was rejected.
William Hesbach, 38, of Waterbury, agreed to build a horse barn for a woman on Newgate Road in Suffield in September 2011, according to a Journal Inquirer article.
Hesbach works under a company called Hess Buildings LLC, out of Middletown, and was charged with making home improvement without state registration.
The woman, Robin Wachs, reportedly paid the Hesbach $45,000 - but the barn was never finished. After repeated calls to the contractor went unanswered, the woman hired another contractor for $8,300, according to published reports.
Hesbach has additional charges pending out of Cheshire, including second- and third-degree larceny and two counts of issuing a bad check over $1,000.
Another property owner reported that Hess Builders were contracted to build a horse arena in February 2010 but left that project undone as well.
