Firefighters from Suffield and Windsor Locks fought a fire at the recycling plant at 1221 Harvey Lane Tuesday night.

Suffield and Windsor Locks firefighters fought a blaze at Babylon Recycling Center in Suffield near the Windsor Locks town line Tuesday night.

No injuries had been reported by 6:45 p.m., according to a member of the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association at the scene.

The fire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. by the Windsor Locks Fire Department's Twitter account. The department requested a second fire truck at 6:30 p.m. Smoke was visible from the access road to the facility, billowing above the building.

Shawn Sniffin of Enfield, an operations manager at one of Babylon's sister companies, was on the scene but didn't know much beyond the fact that firefighters were trying to contain the blaze.

"Right now we don't know what's going on over there," he said.
