Tough weekend...but never say never!

The seeding races are over and Emily finished with 120 points over the combined 2 weekends.  Unfortunately, that was 5 points shy of the 4th place finish - which means she did not make the first cut for the USA Luge World Cup team.  It was an EXTREMELY close race - she was hundredths of a second out of the top 4 - and a tough result.  Lots of pacing and nerves for the parents and grandparents!

But "never say never..." as Emily is still headed for Europe.  As a new twist in this story, she will be competing on her own - as an individual vs. part of the US Team.
For the first month of the season (from next week through Thanksgiving week), she will train with the team and have a good opportunity to see how she stacks up against the other competitors (USA and international).  Then she will race in pre-World Cup qualifying races known as "Nations Cup" in Lillehammer, Norway and Igls, Austria.  If she does well enough, there will be another race-off after the Austria World Cup race (similar to this week's seeding races) to determine which USA athletes will compete in the final three races before the Olympic Team is named in mid-December.

The chase continues...and we'll keep you updated along the way..
