Sunday Night Storm Update From First Selectman Tom Frenaye

Suffield's first selectman talks about the town's response to Winter Storm Alfred in his Sunday night update.

The Emergency Shelter at is full tonight with around 100 people on hand. We have located an additional 100 costs/blankets/pillows which will be delivered on Monday.

Residents are urged to be very careful when driving, many roads are still marked with barriers and detours because of trees on power lines or wires in the road.  These can be very dangerous.

CL&P is estimating it may be a week before power is restored. We did not see any homes connected to power today. CL&P/WMECO did clear trees on several roads in West Suffield, including Mountain Road, Phelps Road and Quarry Road, but they have not cleared all of the downed wires or made repairs. Another crew was out doing assessments of damage in many parts of town.
