3. Although the origin of this little-known "national" observance is unknown, September’s National Hat Month has been publicized and celebrated for many years. Because the hot summer days are hopefully over, this holiday encourages folks to put away their summery straw hats and break out their warm, fleecy ones. Hat-related activities are also encouraged this month. One such activity is, of course, buying a new fall hat!
