September 8: Notes From Wednesday's Board of Selectmen Meeting

1. There is an 80 percent chance of rain today, likely before noon. The high temperature today is 74 °F. There is a 30 percent chance of rain tonight. It will be mostly cloudy tonight with an overnight low of 62 °F, according to the National Weather Service.

2. The Suffield Board of Selectmen endorsed a request for additional funds to add a fire pump to Suffield High School and the new vocational agricultural building.

3. The temporary library at Suffield Town Hall is scheduled to open on Monday, Sept. 12.

4. A procession and ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m., starting at Ffyler Place and progressing to the veterans park at the center of town.

5. The recent activation of the town's emergency operations center and shelter during the course of Hurricane Irene was "a really good, real-time test" for the town's emergency management and response personnel, according to First Selectman Tom Frenaye.
