3. October is National Roller Skating Month, first declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. The Roller Skating Association embarks on a month-long campaign to encourage children to lead healthier lifestyles. With cold weather headed our way, area roller rinks are inviting folks indoors for some climate-controlled skating fun. The perks? Skating is affordable, fun, healthy, suitable for all ages and can be done indoors or out. Skating is said to relieve tension as well so why not check out some local rinks and try your hand (or foot) at this recreational activity.
 
4. Not only does Skater City Amusement Park in Enfield offer roller-skating, they offer “toxic” laser tag, an arcade and black-lit mini-golf. They will be offering skating lessons and dodge ball soon, too. Visit Skater City’s Web site for their events calendar, which includes tomorrow night's event, a Christian ultimate youth night. At these events, admission is buy-one, get-one free and contemporary music is played from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. for folks of all ages. The park's normal hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Skater City is also open Monday through Thursday by appointment.

Christian gospel music skates, organ music skates, blasts from the past, top 40, tiny tot skating with playtime, discount nights and more are available.
