3. According to tfdutch.com, today is Good & Plenty Day in the United States. Good & Plenty candy was first produced by the Quaker City Confectionery Company in Philadelphia in 1893. It is the oldest branded candy in the United States. For you history buffs, Warner-Lambert purchased Good & Plenty in 1973 and Beatrice Foods then purchased the brand in 1982, which was accompanied by a move to St. Louis. Huhtamaki Oy (of Helsinki, Finland) purchased Leaf Brands, the confectionery division of Beatrice Foods, in 1983 and Hershey Foods then acquired the Leaf North American confectionary operations from Huhtamaki Oy in 1996, making Good & Plenty an official Hershey candy.
