Whitewater Triple Crown Kayak Championship on Farmington River This Weekend

The East Granby EDC is pleased to announce that it will be running free shuttle buses to the site of the Whitewater Triple Crown New England Championships on Saturday and Sunday, July 20th and 21st.

This exciting event, sponsored by the Whitewater Slalom Foundation and U.S.A. Canoe/Kayak, takes place annually at the Farmington River's Tariffville Gorge, between East Granby and the Tariffville section of Simsbury.  National level competitors vie for the championship through three separate competitions - a wild water race for speed, a whitewater slalom through a series of gates, and freestyle, featuring flips, spins and other amazing feats.

Best viewing is along the East Granby side of the river, but parking there will be limited to competitors, volunteers and support staff.  There will be no public parking along Spoonville Road, Tunxis Avenue or the Wynding Hills neighborhood.  Spectators expecting to park at viewing area will be turned away.

The shuttles will run continuously between the Center Shops in East Granby (3 Turkey Hills Road) and the best viewing area, about a four mile trip.  Shuttle hours will be from 8AM to 4PM both Saturday and Sunday.

The buses, including drivers and fuel, are being donated by Z Parking of East Granby and the East Granby Senior Center.  This is the second year for the shuttles, which proved to be very popular last year.
