Credit Union Goes Red for Women

The Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union (TVTFCU) celebrated National Wear Red Day on February 7 to kick-off the American Heart Association’s (AHA) “Go Red for Women” campaign. This movement was started to bring awareness to the fact that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined.  According to the AHA, it doesn’t affect all women alike, and the warning signs for women aren’t the same in men.  The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health for this very reason.

“In our effort to help bring awareness to this cause, we provided heart health information, healthy refreshments and offered free blood pressure checks for our members. Also during February we are providing a prize drawing for a chance to win a membership to Healhtrax.” said Myrijam Meserve,  Manager/CEO,  for the credit union. Donations for the American Heart Association are being accepted at the credit union and on their online fundraising page found on their web site, www.tvtfcu.org, through February 28.
