Suffield Players Begin New Production Today

The community theater organization presents "Wait Until Dark," a drama about a three criminals accosting a blind woman, beginning Thursday, Oct. 13.

The Suffield Players begin performances of Wait Until Dark, a high-intensity drama about three criminals attempting to rob a blind woman, at Mapleton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Featuring performers and crew from Suffield and the surrounding area, Wait Until Dark is the first of the Suffield Players' three major performances of the season.

Characterized as an edge-of-the-seat thriller by the Players, the performance centers around Suzy Hendrix, a blind housewife, and three criminals. The criminals try to recover a heroin-filled doll, unknowingly brought to the couple's home by Suzy's husband Sam. Gloria, a young girl who lives in the same apartment building, is in possession of the doll and aids Suzy as the conflict rises.

The story unfolds as the criminals pretend to be a policeman and a friend of her husband, taking advantage of her blindness to recover the doll. As darkness approaches, Suzy realizes the criminals' true intentions and begins to turn the tables on the trio, using her lack of sight to her advantage.

The Suffield Players' production of Wait Until Dark also features performances from Zachary Gray, Mark Proulx and Casimir Stradausazas. It is directed by Robert Lunde.

Performances of Wait Until Dark happen at 8 p.m. on Oct. 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 at with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23.
