Spots Still Available for SFES Dinner and Auction

As the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools gears up for a glamorous night of fun and fundraising, planners hope to fill a few more seats.

There’s still time to get a ticket for the hottest event of the year in Suffield – The Ninth Annual Auction Dinner.

More than 200 guests have already registered for the March 19, 2011 event held at The Riverview in Simsbury.

From 6:30 p.m to 11:30 p.m. guests will enjoy gourmet dining, dancing and silent and live auctions.

“It’s a great way to get together with friends in town in a different environment and be able to dance and hang out,” said Suffield resident Gundi Lobo, who attended last year's event.

Over the past nine years, SFES has funded more than $440,000 in grants for arts, music, foreign language and math software, literacy programs and science equipment.

Much of that SFES money came from the annual dinner and auction.

For a $100 ticket, guests can circulate around the open bar, dine on pepper-encrusted filet mignon or poached salmon with Champagne dill buerre blanc and dance to the sounds of The Score featuring Suffield schools staffer Tom Donato.

The live and silent auctions consist of more than 200 items, such as dinner for two certificates, hot air balloon rides, vacations and girls' getaways.

Many tables or groups of friends bid on large ticket items together, according to Christine Mercadante, SFES vice-president.

“You get four friends together and pitch in to bid and you have yourselves a cocktail party to go to in the future,” she explained.

Reservations are still being accepted. For more information please call Amy Muska at 860-966-2824. Or visit the organization's website at sfes.org.
