Staged reading April 20: Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage

The Suffield Players will present the next installment of our popular “Page to Stage” series of staged readings on April 20, at Kent Memorial Library in Suffield.

The April offering is Jane Martin’s Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage. Love of all kinds – lost, found, enduring, and betrayed – plays a part in this edgy story, which centers on two rootin’-tootin’ sisters: Big 8, a retired rodeo medic, and Shirl, a butcher.

As if these gals aren’t colorful enough, add a pink-haired “She-Devil,” a dim-witted deputy, a young stud in a jockstrap, and a whole lot of blood to the mix and you get a play that manages to pay homage to cowboy flicks and horror films while dealing plenty of laughs.
