Suffield Parks and Rec. Hosts Annual Race on Sept. 10

Participants can win top-finish and raffle prizes for completing the 5K run and the 10K road race. Suffield Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to help out at the event, which is also sponsored by the First National Bank of Suffield.

The Suffield Parks and Recreation Department and the First National Bank of Suffield are hosting two distance runs, a 5K run and a 10K road race, in Suffield on Saturday, Sept. 10. The department is looking for both runners and volunteers to participate in the annual runs.

This year’s event marks the 32nd time the races have been held. Participants in both the 5K and 10K road race, as well as youths in the 5K, all have chances to win gift cards by finishing first in their divisions and taking first place overall. All runners will have a chance to win raffle prizes as the runs conclude.

The races begin at Suffield Middle School and feature some bucolic views of the surrounding area. The 5K run goes up Hill Street and returns to the middle school following a turn around. The 10K race starts on Mountain Road then follows North Main Street before a left turn on Russell Avenue and another left onto Hill Street. The course then returns to the middle school.
