Is Anybody Out There?

Three simple ways to make sure people are reading your posts.

The majority of folks who are using a blog to communicate or to gain visibility aren't blogging just for the fun of it - although blogging can be both useful and fun - but instead they are posting to reach a wider audience.

This brings up another common question from new bloggers: How do I know if people are reading my blog?

While Patch doesn't share specific traffic data with the public, we can assure you that your blog is displayed in front of thousands of local readers each time you post.

Here are some simple tricks to follow to make certain that you are getting as much exposure as possible:

  • Spread the Word - Patch editors routinely share articles and posts on our social media pages, on Facebook and Twitter, for each site. Share your blog with your friends and family and ask them to let others in their networks know that you are blogging.
  • Ask a Question - One of the easiest ways to find out if folks are reading is by asking a question in your post. Tell your readers to share their comments and start a discussion.
  • Recommend - Be sure to ask your readers to 'Recommend' your post to help others find it. It also doesn't hurt to recommend other bloggers' posts!
