Zawistowski Receives Republican Nomination for State Representative

Tami Zawistowski of East Granby was elected as the Republican candidate for the open seat left vacant due to the death of State Representative Elaine O’Brien.

The Republican caucus was held on Tuesday, March 4 at the Suffield Town Hall.  Tami, who ran against O’Brien in the 2012 election, received the majority of the caucus delegate votes and will be running as the State Representative in the 61st District, which includes Suffield, East Granby and a portion of Windsor.  The special election will take place on Friday, April 11.

Zawistowski has stated she has been interested in the Representative position because, “I’m tired of the Democrats’ long record of increasing taxes without any meaningful spending cuts.”  “The Malloy tax increase passed in the last legislative session has hurt residents and is stifling the economic recovery of Connecticut, putting most of the economic pressure on the taxpayers” she said.

“I believe taxpayers deserve to have representation by someone who will actively represent the people of our district and not the Governor’s agenda.  I look forward to being that person and being the voice of my neighbors,” said Zawistowski.
