Kissel at the Oct. 23 "Step Up" conference held at Asnuntuck Community College. More than 200 area employers attended the "Step Up” conference, which stands for Subsidized Training and Employment Program, to share information and learn what programs are available to help them build their businesses. The free event provided overviews on Connecticut’s Small Business Express program, tax incentives for equipment upgrades, tax credits for job creation, how to find and recruit qualified employees, and guidelines for businesses interested in becoming a State of Connecticut vendor. The conference was organized by the Connecticut Department of Labor, Sen. Kissel, Rep. David Alexander, and Rep. David Kiner.
