Special Guest Traci Mnich to Perform at ATS&O Show

The Around Town Singers and Orchestra (ATS&O) presents their fifth annual holiday performance entitled “Christmas Treasures” on Saturday, December 1 at 3 PM at the Suffield Middle School.  This family friendly show was co-written by Margie Secora and Dan Kehoe, and features the adult chorus, childrens’ groups, live orchestra, vocalist Maeve Flanders, and the award-winning teen group Flashback.  The show also offers comedy, dancing, favorite holiday songs, and even a carol sing with audience participation.  The dancers of Rhythms Dance Academy of Warehouse Point will also entertain with lively dance routines.

Each year a surprise special guest adds an additional treat to the show.  This year the ATS&O is pleased to announce that Suffield favorite Traci Mnich will be making a special appearance.  Mnich is a long time protégé of Dan Kehoe, the founder and director of Around Town Singers and Orchestra.  Kehoe first discovered Mnich’s talent when she was called in at the last minute to accompany her in her sixth grade variety show, and he suggested to her mother that she should be recorded.  Kehoe helped Traci build her first website and wrote and recorded several original compositions for her.  He encouraged her to join The Dan Kane Singers of Western Mass since the ATS&O did not yet exist then.  Working with Traci and assisting her with her dream to become a singer validated Kehoe’s mission to identify, train, and showcase up and coming talent.  Today, the ATS&O carries on that mission.

Mnich performs in numerous venues throughout New England and is currently busy performing as the lead singer of “Relentless”.  Her site is www.TraciMnich.com.

Late breaking news:  This year’s Christmas performance is now completely sold out at over 600 seats.  Come and see the ATS&O perform during an evening of “Candlelight, Chocolate, and Love Songs” to be held Saturday night, February 9.   Tickets for this all-reserved elegant valentines dinner show go on sale December 1.

The ATS&O thanks all who support the arts in Suffield. Look for other upcoming performances by the ATS&O at their website www.aroundtownsingers.org.  The group is always auditioning those who love to sing, dance, and perform or play an instrument.

The problem is resurfacing all the roads in Suffield would cost a great deal of money. Suffield is aRead More big town. I do understand that some roads in Suffield do not have enough adjacent suitable land to create a separate bike lane, but I believe bike lanes could be constructed along sections of some scenic roads. Half a loaf is better than none at all. Salvatore, if you have not already been there, you may want to consider cycling on the island of Nantucket. I have not been there in years, but outside of its main town, Nantucket did offer good riding conditions and peaceful surroundings--at least when I visited.

Thank you for your comment. Actually, I was simply suggesting that roads are resurfaced. There isn'tRead More probably enough room for bike lanes on most of these backroads, but if at least the pavement was brought to an acceptable condition, that would make biking much more pleasant (I should say "possible") and, let's not forget, much safer. Some particularly damaged areas represent a serious danger to bikers' safety.

There may be a solution--a compromise of sorts. Put a narrow, but well-maintained bike lane on largeRead More sections of each scenic road in town, the roads with fewer cars and trucks. Just having the bike lanes may be draw for out-of-town cyclists to visit Suffield and spend money at local businesses. Instead of attempting to change Suffield into a metropolitan area, with all the problems that brings, celebrate (and financially support) its original identity--a scenic, peaceful agricultural town with some nice amenities.
