A Hot New Spot to Dance the Night Away!

On June 23, North American Dance Academy, owned by Sara Schilling and Laura Steil, will host the grand opening celebration of the newest Ballroom and Latin dance studio in Enfield, Connecticut!

North American Dance Academy is located at 127 Pearl Street in a beautifully restored Masonic temple. It features a spacious dance floor under a vaulted ceiling, all overlooked by a balcony inscribed with the Masonic triad of wisdom, strength and beauty.

The building's rich history is almost palpable, and the overall feeling is enhanced by the warmth of the professional, world-renowned instructors and friendly, welcoming staff. The studio offers private instruction seven days of the week, and is also a venue for weekend social dances on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Sara Schilling is from Tolland and has been teaching locally for over 13 years. She coaches the UConn ballroom team, Trinity College ballroom team and the East Hartford High School ballroom club. Sara and her professional partner, Evgueni Chaoulski, are the only representatives in the New England area to compete in four consecutive World Championships. They are Canadian 10-Dance Champions, competing in both latin and ballroom styles of dance.

New Jersey resident Laura Steil is a former world amateur semi-finalist and national finalist. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the New England area and hosts the weekend social dances. She brings a fresh perspective to the studio and can be found socializing and dancing with people of all ages and levels at our dances. Together, Sara, Evgueni and Laura make a well-rounded, full of fun and great dancing team.

The problem is resurfacing all the roads in Suffield would cost a great deal of money. Suffield is aRead More big town. I do understand that some roads in Suffield do not have enough adjacent suitable land to create a separate bike lane, but I believe bike lanes could be constructed along sections of some scenic roads. Half a loaf is better than none at all. Salvatore, if you have not already been there, you may want to consider cycling on the island of Nantucket. I have not been there in years, but outside of its main town, Nantucket did offer good riding conditions and peaceful surroundings--at least when I visited.

Thank you for your comment. Actually, I was simply suggesting that roads are resurfaced. There isn'tRead More probably enough room for bike lanes on most of these backroads, but if at least the pavement was brought to an acceptable condition, that would make biking much more pleasant (I should say "possible") and, let's not forget, much safer. Some particularly damaged areas represent a serious danger to bikers' safety.

There may be a solution--a compromise of sorts. Put a narrow, but well-maintained bike lane on largeRead More sections of each scenic road in town, the roads with fewer cars and trucks. Just having the bike lanes may be draw for out-of-town cyclists to visit Suffield and spend money at local businesses. Instead of attempting to change Suffield into a metropolitan area, with all the problems that brings, celebrate (and financially support) its original identity--a scenic, peaceful agricultural town with some nice amenities.
