America Seems to be in a Rush to Join the Race to the Bottom

I want to apologize up front if any of this is not clear, these are two VERY complicate matters that are happening right now, and i don't want to make this too too long.

I am hoping that all of the people in my community are paying attention to two very important things happening in Congress and the Executive branch of our government right now

1) Trade Authority - Yesterday a bill was dropped into Congress and the Senate that is being referred to as "Fast-Track". I don't want to bore you with to much political detail, but in our Constitution Congress is held responsible for negotiating trade. This is for a very good reason. Each member of congress needs to ensure that any new trade deals protect their unique constituency. what Fast Track does is gives Trade Authority to the Executive branch (AKA President Obama) and changes the way any trade treaty's will be handled when they do come to Congress for a vote. Some of those changes in the past include, no amendments, no public comment or review, shortened review time, up/down vote only with no discussion, etc. Now mind you this is AFTER it has already been negotiated and signed by the President and whoever he chooses to help him.

2) Trans Pacific Trade agreement (TPP) - Ok here is the big bad wolf that is pushing item number 1. the POTUS along with a committee made up of about 600 Corporate Advisers has been negotiating with 11 pacific rim counties (including Vietnam, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Chili, Singapore.. ) a trade agreement for the last several years as if he actually had the Authority to do so already. This agreement has been kept top secret, but due to some very critical leaks we know that it has the potential to be FAR worse than NAFTA or any other trade deal. First let me be clear, there are approx 29 chapters in this "deal" only 5 of which actually deal with Trade! There is info out there if you search for it, and i suggest you do. If the bill being introduced today passes this new Trade Agreement could become the law of the land without so much as one of us ever getting to even see what it says prior to it passing.  Based on what i have seen of it, saying that it is a race to the bottom is an understatement. It will eliminate ALL "buy local" and "buy American" programs it will eliminate all GMO labeling laws (like the one just passed in CT). It will remove our SOVEREIGNTY as a nation.  (Let me repeat that or you - It will remove our SOVEREIGNTY as a nation) by allowing for international tribunals, that allow foreign corporations to sue tax payers for losses of "PROJECTED future" profits.
There is so much more, all I can say to you is this if you care AT ALL about Environmental Safety, Food Safety, Banning Fracking, Financial controls, Labor laws, Cost of Medications, Small Business, Wage Disparity, Internet Freedom, Our Constitution, I could go on for pages.

PLEASE look into, and make some calls. as of today 3 (Esty, Courtney, Delauro) of the 5 members of Congress in CT have said they are not in favor of Fast Track (They have made no promise to vote against it though) and 2 have been much softer and will most likely vote for it (Himes, Larson) which in my opinion is reason to be removed from office. They swore to uphold the constitution, not to vote to eliminate it!

You may want to take a quick look at how NAFTA has hurt us, now that 20 years have gone by we have a pretty good idea what these supposedly wonderful trade deals will do  to us. I have posted a few articles for your review
